Located on the south coast of New South Wales, diving in Jervis Bay offers clear temperate waters, dramatic rocky reefs, and rich marine biodiversity. Protected by Jervis Bay Marine Park, dive sites feature sponge gardens, kelp forests, caves, and bommies. Divers commonly encounter grey nurse sharks, weedy seadragons, turtles, rays, cuttlefish, and large schools of fish. With excellent visibility and sheltered conditions, Jervis Bay scuba diving is ideal for both beginner and experienced divers seeking high-quality temperate reef diving.
The best time for scuba diving in Jervis Bay is from October to May, when water temperatures range from 17–22°C and visibility is at its best. Summer offers the warmest water and calm seas, while autumn provides fewer crowds and excellent marine life encounters. Winter diving is possible with thicker wetsuits or drysuits, and visibility often remains good. Seasonal planning ensures comfortable and rewarding diving in Jervis Bay.
Accessing Jervis Bay dive sites is easy via Sydney Airport, followed by a 2.5–3 hour drive south to Huskisson or Vincentia. Dive centres in Huskisson operate guided boat and shore dives within the marine park, with many sites reached in short boat rides. Operators offer equipment rental, certification courses, and specialty dives. With excellent infrastructure and protected waters, diving in Jervis Bay is convenient and well suited for weekend trips or extended NSW dive holidays.
