Peru’s Pacific coast offers diving in Peru that blends rich marine biodiversity with dramatic underwater landscapes. Popular dive spots like Paracas National Reserve and the Islas Ballestas feature rocky reefs, kelp forests, and abundant marine life including sea lions, Humboldt penguins, moray eels, and vibrant fish species. Visibility varies but often exceeds 15–20 meters on calm days. Peru scuba diving is ideal for adventurous divers seeking unique wildlife encounters and untouched underwater environments in South America.
The best conditions for Peru diving occur during the dry season from May to September, when calmer seas and better visibility make exploring reefs and kelp forests easier. Water temperatures range from 16–22°C (61–72°F), so a thick wetsuit is recommended. Wildlife spotting, including sea lions, penguins, and schools of tropical fish, peaks in these months. Diving during shoulder seasons is still possible, though currents and visibility may be less predictable.
