Diving in Wales opens up a treasure chest of spectacular reefs, drop offs and pinnacles ready to be explored. Dolphins, whales, sharks and seals await you along Wales's spectacular coastline. The country's rugged beauty offers an infinitive number of dive sites for all interests.

The main areas for diving in Wales are Pembrokeshire in the south-west and Anglesey in the north-west. Pembrokeshire National Park and Skomer Island are home to large colonies of seals while Anglessey has a number of mysterious wrecks, some of which are still undiscovered.

When to dive in Wales

The typical dive season is from April-October but Wales can be dived all year. Many divers would want to consider a dry suit with hood and gloves. Water temperature ranges from 4°C/39°F in April to 14°C /57°F in September.

Wales is easily accessed from the rest of the UK, Ireland and Europe with flights into Cardiff Airport. If you are travelling from outside Europe its suggested to best fly to England first and continuing overland from there.

By car, Wales is around a three hour drive from London. Take the train, or start from Birmingham, Manchester or Liverpool, and you can be in Wales in a couple of hours.

The main direct rail route to Wales is the train service from London Paddington to Newport and Cardiff, with easy connections to Swansea, Carmarthenshire and Pembrokeshire.
